The Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum
was started in 2004 by The Hon. Koji Omi as an annual gathering which serves as a forum to discuss, develop and communicate both a current and long-term direction for how science and technology can improve the way humankind functions as a society and the way we interact with the living systems of the planet.
The American Associates of the STS forum was established in January 2011 as an autonomous 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization with its own Board of Directors and staff based in New York City, with a triple mission of raising the visibility of the STS forum in the United States, the presence of the participants from the United States at the meetings of the STS forum, as well as financial support for the STS forum in Japan.
