Amb. Sadayuki Tsuchiya, Sadayuki Tsuchiya is Executive Director of Science and Technology in Society (STS) forum. Before that, he has completed his assignment as the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Peru(2018-2020). He is also former Vice Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). He had served 37 years (1979-2016) extensive administrative experience on handling various field such as Higher Education and Science &Technology including Information Technology, Space Development and Biotechnology. He had particularly focused on creating innovative industry-university collaborating research system and fostering human resource.
Dr. Bernard Meyerson is an IBM Fellow, and served as IBM’s first Chief Innovation Officer beginning in 2010. In 2013, his team integrated into IBM’s Corporate Strategy function, responsible for the definition and execution of corporate-wide technical and business initiatives. In 2019 he transitioned to Chief Innovation Officer Emeritus, continuing his work with key IBM Clients. He is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
PANELISTS
DR. GRETCHEN CAMPBELL
Dr. Gretchen Campbell is the Assistant Director for Quantum Information Science (QIS) and the Director of the National Quantum Coordination Office (NQCO) within the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The NQCO ensures coordination of the National Quantum Initiative (NQI) and QIS activities across the federal government, industry, and academia.
Dr. Oliver Dial was named an IBM Fellow in 2021 for his contributions to quantum computing hardware. He is IBM Quantum’s CTO, ensuring IBM’s quantum hardware and software together deliver an outstanding experience. Oliver received his PhD from MIT in 2007 for research in two-dimensional electron and hole systems. He then entered the field of quantum computing as a post-doc at Harvard, demonstrating the first two-qubit gate between semiconductor singlet-triplet qubits. He joined IBM as a research scientist in 2012, and has worked on multiqubit device architectures, qubit coherence, and quantum device control software.
DR. IORDANIS KERENIDIS
Iordanis Kerenidis received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2004. After a two-year postdoctoral position at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he joined the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique CNRS in Paris as a research director. He has been the coordinator of a number of EU-funded projects including an ERC Grant, and he is the founder and director of the Paris Centre for Quantum Computing. His research is focused on quantum algorithms for machine learning and optimization, including one of the first end-to-end quantum machine learning application for recommendation systems, demonstration of quantum classification on trapped ion hardware and quantum Monte Carlo methods in Finance. He is currently the Head of Quantum Algorithms at QC Ware.
